Matthews Reid House

The Matthews Historical Foundation is proud to be the caretaker of the Reid family home which was built in 1890. Sarah Adderton Redd received the Reid House from her aunt, Miss Nancy Reid. Ms. Redd generously gifted the house to the Matthews Historical Foundation in 1987 provided they maintain the property. Sitting like a "queen on a throne", the Reid House adds architectural significance to Matthews.

The Matthews Historical Foundation was founded in 1987 by a group of local citizens and is comprised of dedicated volunteers. Since its beginning, the Foundation has been interested in preserving Matthews history. We are caretakers of the Matthews Reid House and the Massey-Clark House and
are a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization.
